nonresidents invade hdb void deck to store personal belongings thumbnail Help! Non residents have invaded my void deck to store personal belongings

Although STOMPer Alissa is a resident of this HDB block, she is unable to use the void deck as non-residents have taken over it for their own personal leisure and use.

Not only have they created their own mini-gardens on the grass patch, they also use the void deck as a private storage area.

These inconsiderate people sit at the void deck daily and stare at the residents there in a hostile manner if the residents look at them.

Fed up, STOMPer Alissa says in an email dated January 16:

“I would like to highlight the activities that are currently taking place and have been ongoing for more than three months.

“I am a resident here and at our void deck, since the upgrading of the block opposite, some residents have started to create their own ‘mini-garden’.

“At first, it was a very small one. But as time passed, it grew to be a big one with their plantations and decor.

“The aunties and uncles are actually residents who live nearby and they have brought all sorts of furniture and food to store at our void deck.

“They sit there everyday and mingle with each other untill the end of the day as they look after their ‘gardens’".

“Sorry to say, I found all this too much when I started to get mosquito bites and noticed the collection of stagnant water in a few of the containers there.

“As I was once a dengue patient myself, I feel that I should also do my part in keeping my neighbourhood a safe and dengue-free environment.

“Those aunties and uncles give us cold stares whenever we walk past our OWN void deck and take glimpses of their ‘garden’.

“We cannot even sit down at the benches as they have placed their cabinets there. And if we sat somewhere near, they would be monitoring us in case we took any of their fruits, beer or newspapers.

“We would love to have a peaceful and safe environment, not a messy, untidy, jungle kampong and to be able to use out void deck facilities as we pay fees for them.

“We can’t even sit comfortably at our own void deck without the intrusion of these unnecessary things?

“We have been tolerating this for more than three months now.

“I sent e-mails to the Town Council and have been hoping that they will take appropriate action.

“I hope this can be brought up so residents can have our own peace and comfort.”

According to the STOMPer, they also leave trash behind everyday.

Joy says:

"My wife and I always see these two poor homeless men sleeping at the void deck below our block.

"This is very unsightly and they always leave behind rubbish the next morning.

"I wonder who these two men are.

"Can the Town Council send someone to check?"
