A famous fengshui master has said that local celebrity Jack Neo should install a fish pond to resolve his personal crisis and avoid more scandals.

The fengshui master’s predictions came right after Jack Neo’s scandalous affair with a 22-year-old model was made public.

STOMPer Geomancerist hopes that Neo will heed the fengshui master’s advice and turn his life around.

"Master Hui Jie, a famous fengshui master, told Xin Ming Ri Bao that according to his "sheng chen ba zi tui suan" (calculations based on date of birth and the 8 characters of the Chinese horoscope), Jack Neo’s fortune started to decline from April 2009 and this will continue till 2011.

"He must resolve his personal crisis by May 5, or he may be unable to turn his calamities into blessings.

"Master Hui Jie also advised that for Jack to turn his fortune around and to avoid further scandals, he should install in his house a miniature fountain or a fish pond.

"I hope Jack Neo will consider listening to the advice to turn his own life around."

Famous fish-soup hawker says ‘no’ to extra bowl because it’s more work for dishwashers

A famous fish soup hawker at Amoy Street Food Centre told STOMPer Clubstreeter’s wife that she’s not allowed an additional bowl because it would mean more work for the dishwashers.

The STOMPer said:

"This is about the famous fish soup shop at the 2nd level of Amoy Street Food Centre.

"This stall always has long queues at lunchtime on weekdays, so my wife, son and I decided to take advantage of the Saturday before CNY to eat there.

"There were seven people in the queue so my wife queued while I kept my 5-year-old boy company at the table.

"I thought I would make myself useful and decided to prepare chopsticks and chilli but the lady taking orders told me I wasn’t allowed to.

"I found it very amusing but I just ignored her and went back to my seat.

"My wife came back later feeling very angry as she did not grant her request for another empty bowl.

"She (the lady in orange shirt) said that it will cause the dishwashers additional work, despite our explanation that it was for a child.

"Her attitude was really appalling and I feel that those who have been treated badly by this stall should vote with your wallets and not return to them."

Prepare to be star struck when you head down to Empress Road market…well, sort of. There’s a fish monger there who is a spitting image of the famous Hong Kong action movie star, Jackie Chan.

In an email to STOMP today (Feb 9), STOMPer OhEmmGee says:

“This famous fish monger has an uncanny resemblance to famous Hong Kong star Jackie Chan.”

According to an article on Soshiok.com:

Fish monger Zhang Sui Xing, 48, is a spitting image of the famous Hong Kong action movie star and has been mistaken for Jackie Chan by many who met him at the market in Empress Road.

Zhang, who has operated his fish stall there for over 20 years, has become a popular icon at the wet market, attracting many housewives – some even called "Aunty killer".

"My business is very good. Many customers will call me ‘Chen Long’ (Jackie’s Chinese name),” he told a local newspaper.

Lady service staff tells us: ‘You won’t die from eating rotten mussels and fish head’

lady service staff tells us thumbnail Lady service staff tells us: You wont die from eating rotten mussels and fish head

STOMPer nikeboi1984 and his friends were served rotten mussels and fish head at a steamboat restaurant, yet the lady service staff told them that they won’t die from eating it, and made them pay for half of the bill.

The STOMPer recounts:

"My friends and I went to this steamboat place on Jan 30.

"The way the restaurant works is that the customers tick what kind of food they want on the ingredient list, and the staff will bring them to the table.

"The mussels and fish head brought to us had a rotten smell.

"We asked for new servings twice, but it was still the same.

"What’s worse, the lady-in-charge (a China lady shown in photo standing in counter) said that we won’t die from eating such spoiled food.

"In the end I had to pay half of the bill ($39) without eating a single thing.

"All four of us did not eat at all.

"I had already emailed to NEA yesterday and they are looking into this matter. I am posting here just to share with all STOMPers to be wary of this steamboat shop."

Omega 3 fish oil dissolves styrofoam cup: Is it safe for humans to consume?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

omega 3 fish oil dissolves styrofoam cup thumbnail Omega 3 fish oil dissolves styrofoam cup: Is it safe for humans to consume?

STOMPer Anthony’s father conducted an experiment to find out if omega 3 fish oil can dissolve styrofoam.

The startling results caused the STOMPer to wonder if the fish oil was safe for human consumption. He says:

""My father watched on TV that omega 3 fish oil could dissolve a styrofoam or polystyrene cup.

"He was not convinced as omega 3 fish oil has many health benefits.

"He took the omega 3 fish oil and conducted an experiment.

"The styrofoam cup did dissolve when Omega 3 fish oil was placed on it but when cooking oil was placed on it nothing happened.

"Is it safe to consume omega 3 fish oil on a daily basis?

STOMP did an online search and found that this reaction is caused by the organic compounds found in both the fish oil and styrofoam.

An online article states:

"Styrofoam is polystyrene made from a special manufacturing process. The fish oil is organic and thus ‘dissolves’ the organic polystyrene in the styrofoam.

"Styrofoam dissolves in most oils including gasoline. Industrial glue works too.

"This is because foam is a non-polar polymer. It dissolves in non-polar solvents.

"The result is usually a viscous and sticky fluid that is highly flammable and reminiscent of napalm."
