In order to enter Johor Bahru, you need to have your fuel tank at 3/4, but in order to leave, you must have less than 20 litres in the tank. What is one to do with excess petrol if only making a short trip?
The STOMPer describes the situation:
"I frequently travel in and out of Malaysia.
"With the new ruling that cars leaving Malaysia must have less than 20 litres in the tank, it is going to be very challenging to drive a Singapore-registered car across the border.
"I strongly feel that both countries’ immigration departments should work together to implement policies that don’t contradict each other.
"If I follow Singapore’s ICA rule, filling up 3/4 tank to enter Johor Bahru for a business meeting, I have to drive around to use up my petrol or use a pump to withdraw my petrol, in order to leave with less than 20 litres in the tank.
"If I do that, where am I going to discard the rest of my petrol? Isn’t it illegal to discard petrol on the road?
"So what should we do?"
