STOMPer Gourmet was puzzled as to why certain food stalls are allowed to reserved seats for their own customers.
In an email to STOMP today (Jan 16), the STOMPer says:
“The other day I visited the Food Republic at Somerset, the upmarket shopping mall in Orchard Road.
“To my surprise , I found some tables with the notice ‘RESERVED’ and these were put up by some of the stallholders. I bought some food from one of the stalls and when I wanted to sit at the so-called reserved table, I was told that it was meant for customers of a particular food stall. I had no choice but to move to another table.
“In the food centres owned by NEA, customers are allowed to sit anywhere irrespective of the stall they visited. I wonder why such rules are allowed in a food court in a prestigious shopping mall.
“Does NEA have a say in such matters?
“I bought a plate of curry chicken rice which cost me $6.80. The serving was very small consisting of one piece of cut cucumber, a scoop of rice, a small piece of omelette and a piece of chicken. This was a rip off and I left the food court feeling hungry and angry.”
