STOMPer Michelle was so annoyed when he saw that this man ignored the pregnant woman standing next to him and continued sitting in the priority seat.
In an email to STOMP today (Mar 7), the STOMPer says:
"As you can see in this picture, this young man was sitting in the priority seat.
"Clearly there is a very pregnant woman standing next to him and he does not seem to notice her.
"He even had the time to look my way when I took this picture."
TAIPEI, Taiwan – A woman onboard a plane in Taipei was fined NT$80,000 (S$3,500) for texting her friend right before take-off despite warnings by the crew.
In the afternoon of Dec. 4, 2009, 49-year-old Chen was on a Mandarin Airline flight from SongShan Airport to Kinmen.
After the crew notified passengers to stop using electronic devices, she kept on inputting on her cell phone, typing up a text message to her friend, according to the Taipei District Court.
Crew members tried to stop Chen as soon as they noticed, but Chen refused to turn off her cell phone and yelled, “I must do this. It’s important!”.
The plane was directed back and the woman was arrested at the gate by aviation police.
The Taipei District Court handed the woman a NT$80,000 fine for breaking the Civil Aviation Law.
The case is open to appeal.
As stated in Article 102 of the Civil Aviation Law, using disruptive electronic devices on a plane is punishable by a sentence of up to 5 years, detainment, or a fine of up to NT$150,000.
Offenders causing death could receive a sentence between seven years to life. Offenders causing severe injuries are punishable by a three-year to ten-year sentence.
STOMPer GSChong wonders why this dog is allowed at the coffeeshop where pets are prohibited. According to the STOMPer, the pet owner apparently lets the dog drink from saucers meant for people.
"Why is the dog still allowed at the coffee shop when it has already been more than two years?
"NEA and the coffee shop owners are not doing any thing about it
"Every night the owner will bring her pet dog along to the coffee shop at Jalan Teck Whye and she will use a saucer from the zhi char store to feed her dog water.
"How can she do that? Can NEA take any action?"
This woman motorcyclist appears to have recently obtained her bike license; she has P-plates all over her bike. According to the STOMPer, the rider appears to be in her 60s.
STOMPer Tan Yin Fern saw this incident and told STOMP in an email today (Mar 2):
"I saw this funny scene while I was driving and went to take a picture.
"The driver had put on five P-plates on the motorcycle and was dressed like a P-plate too!
"I went to take a closer look and saw that the driver was actually an old lady in her 60-70s!
"A true example of not giving up learning no matter how old one is, and it is important to be cautious at the same time!
"I was somewhat touched by that scene."
This scene brings back fond memories of the Sunflower Biker, a motorcyclist who used to hit the roads with more than a hundred plastic sunflowers plastered all over his bike, helmet and even his jacket.
Back in 2007, the Sunflower Biker captivated fellow STOMPers with his unique style, and we received at least six snapshots of him on his bike from amused STOMPers.
News of the P-plate Old Woman and the Sunflower Biker have been refreshing changes in the Singaporean motoring scene, which has often been plagued by news of inconsiderate drivers and other ‘Motoring Goondus’.

It is vital to know about the things children are looking at online, says a STOMPer, who caught his nephew viewing the profile of a vulgar and possibly violent woman.
The adult female could be mentally unsound, he says, because her rantings seem very aggressive and one-sided.
It is also worrying that the woman claims to have two young children and yet seems to have the time to be on the internet constantly.
In an email, the STOMPer says:
“Parents, do keep a tight watch on your children when they are surfing the internet!
“I saw my nine-year-old nephew viewing the profile of an adult female friend he got to know while playing games.
“This woman doesn’t look sound-minded as she posted her dirty linen in public and she fills her profile with insulting other and name-calling.
“She claims that she is lowly educated with no certificate to support her two children so why is able to spend so much time on the net instead of finding a proper job?
“At one point, she was even violent and even claimed to slap somebody.
“I think she might suffer from hysteria or schizophrenia because her postings seem to be one-sided and sound like they could be caused by hallucinations.
“For those who know her, it would be better for her to seek professional medical help before her illness deteriorates.
“It is quite dangerous for two young children to be in her care.
“Nonetheless, I have made my young nephew delete her profile and told him to be more wary of who he adds on Facebook.”
